The Fragrance Foundation presented its Second Annual Connections Luncheon and Networking Event to shine a spotlight on the talent and innovation of diverse perfumers and brands. Connections is part of TFF’s signature #FragranceForwardTFF initiative launched in October 2021 to advance diversity and representation across the full spectrum of the fragrance industry.
TFF Connections 2023 brought together brand owners, media, influencers and style makers to herald the beginning of New York Fashion Week and share insights on the topic of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The event featured an intimate series of presentations with brand owners and perfumers, highlighted by a lively discussion with each moderated by TFF President Linda G. Levy. For the 50-year anniversary of The Fragrance Foundation Awards, this year’s star-studded awards ceremony at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater in New York City lived up to the golden occasion. With a record-breaking audience of 900 in-person attendees, the global fragrance industry came together to celebrate outstanding achievements across 14 categories and two honorific awards.
In the lobby, attendees were greeted by a custom fragrance created for the event by the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Perfumer Anne Flipo, which she named La Jardin de St Jose after the gardens where she lives in France. Once inside the theater, Jerry Vittoria, Executive Committee Chairman of TFF and President of Fine Fragrance Foundation Worldwide DSM-Firmenich, kicked off the evening along with TFF President Linda G. Levy, who underlined the Foundation’s commitment and mission to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion within every facet of fragrance creation. In the last year, TFF partnered with New York Urban League on the Catalyst Initiative to benefit the League’s Diversity Lab and connected with college students country-wide to increase awareness of career opportunities within fragrance.
The night brought plenty of surprises, including presenter Cate Blanchette who delivered the Hall of Fame Award to Nicolas Hieronimus, Chief Executive Office of L’Oréal. TFF also recognized filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg as Creative Collaborator for the awards. Presenters included Misty Copeland, Diane Kruger, Keke Palmer, Vera Wang, Jason Wu, Wes Gordon, Sergio Hudson, Francisco Costa, Zaya, Malaika Jones, Tai Beauchamp, and Carlos Huber. The night ended in style with a seated dinner in the Promenade and DJ Alexandra Richards setting the mood.

The Fragrance Foundation Catalyst Initiative will benefit NYUL’s Diversity Lab and provide training, career development, mentorship, and job opportunities for professionals of color interested in careers in the fragrance industry. Global Lyme Alliance Hosts The GLA Global Gala in NYC
Global Lyme Alliance (GLA), the leading nonprofit dedicated to conquering Lyme and other tick-borne diseases held the GLA GLOBAL GALA 2022 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.
The event raises Lyme disease awareness and funds for research to improve diagnostics and treatments and ultimately find a cure for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. The spectacular and one-of-a-kind gala was a night to remember for invited celebrities, business leaders, and top scientists alike.
The evening’s honored guests included Kim & Atty Cleworth, A mother and daughter who have been impacted by Lyme. They are also Executive Producers of the film, I’m Not Crazy I’m Sick. An exclusive preview was shown to the audience of the documentary about their struggle.
A highlight of New York’s philanthropic calendar, this year’s event raised more than $1.85 million to advance GLA’s mission to conquer Lyme. A live auction led by Jason Lamoreaux auctioned items including a trilogy of sports events, travel experiences and a golf weekend with professional Jimmy Walker for which bidding was keen. The GLA has gained national prominence for funding the most promising research in the field.
The evening program began with cocktails and dinner, a video contribution by Debbie Gibson, and speech by Broadway Star Ashley Loren, on the impact that Lyme disease has had on their lives. The event was hosted by master of ceremonies Rosanna Scotto, Co-Host of FOX 5 “Good Day New York.” The evening also featured an exceptional live performance by Recording Artist Pia Toscano and later in the night, Erich Bergen, Star of Madam Secretary and both the stage and screen versions of Jersey Boys.
Celebrated event planner Larry Scott of Lawrence Scott Events produced the gala experience by donating his designs and décor to the virtuous cause for the fourth year in a row, showcasing his long-standing dedication to the Lyme community.
